While it is a long drive, the breathtaking scenery of the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260m) makes every mile worth it.
Early morning pickup from your hotel in Casablanca. Drive towards Marrakech and then ascend into the High Atlas Mountains.
Panoramic stop at the highest mountain pass in North Africa (2,260m). Enjoy spectacular views of Berber villages clinging to the mountainside.
Cross the river to explore the ancient Ksar. Walk through the narrow alleys to the top for a view of the valley. Lunch break in the village.
Short drive to Ouarzazate. Photo stop at Taourirt Kasbah and an optional visit to the Atlas Film Studios to see movie sets.
Relaxing drive back via the highway. Arrive at your hotel in the evening.
Driving Time: This is a long day trip with approx. 4.5 - 5 hours driving each way.
Mountain Roads: The Tizi n'Tichka pass is winding. If you get motion sickness, please prepare accordingly.
Walking: Wear comfortable shoes for walking up the hill to the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.
A very long day but Ait Ben Haddou is absolutely incredible. Seeing the Atlas mountains covered in snow was unexpected. Driver was excellent.
The movie studios were fun. It's a lot of driving, but we had a comfortable van. Good lunch recommendation.
Worth it to see the Game of Thrones location. The Kasbah is majestic. Be prepared for walking uphill.
