Short on time but dreaming of the Sahara? This 3-Day Desert Escape from Casablanca is designed for travelers who want to experience the magic of the dunes without a week-long commitment.
You will cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, feed Barbary apes in the cedar forests of Azrou, and witness the stunning Ziz Valley palm groves. The highlight is a night in Merzouga, where you will ride camels into the sunset and sleep in a luxury desert camp. This tour typically ends in Marrakech or Fes (to avoid the very long drive back to Casablanca), maximizing your sightseeing time.
Morning pickup. Drive to Ifrane (Little Switzerland). Stop in Azrou cedar forest to see monkeys. Overnight in Midelt (Apple City).
Scenic drive through Ziz Valley gorges and palm groves. Arrive Merzouga. Sunset camel trek to your luxury camp. Dinner & music under stars.
After sunrise and breakfast, we transfer you to Fes (7h drive) or Marrakech (9h drive). *Return to Casablanca is possible but very long.*
Driving: This is a fast-paced trip with significant driving time. We recommend ending in Fes or Marrakech to save time.
Camp: You will have a private tent with an en-suite bathroom and hot water.
Seasons: In winter (Dec-Feb), nights can be cold. Bring warm clothes.
Honestly, I was worried about the long drive from Casablanca, but it was absolutely worth every minute. Our driver, Hicham, was a legend—safe, funny, and knew exactly when to stop for coffee or a photo. Arriving at the dunes just in time for sunset was magical. The camel ride was hilarious and beautiful. A must-do if you're short on time!
The luxury camp blew my mind. I expected a basic tent, but this had a real bed, a hot shower, and electricity! Eating dinner under the stars while listening to Berber drums was the highlight of our entire Morocco trip. The Ziz Valley drive on day 2 is spectacular. Highly recommend Lariviere Tours.
We booked this last minute and the team was super responsive. Seeing the monkeys in the cedar forest was a fun surprise on the way to the desert. The landscape changes so much—from green mountains to rocky canyons to orange sand. It’s a lot of driving for 3 days, but we saw so much.
